Work: Takashi Murakami | Geek Mythology

IMG_7539

Last year in Tokyo, I interviewed Takashi Murakami on the day his exhibit, 500 Arhats, was to be revealed to the public. And when I say interviewed, I mean it in the sense that I threw out the list prepared questions and flowed into a present moment conversation between me, him, and his translator (she’s dope by the way.)

Takashi is a busy man after all. It was his first exhibit in Tokyo in over 10 years, and as we were walking around the Mori Art museum, he was being greeted left and right by executives and press.

Work: Mark Whitwell Interview for Yogitimes

YogiTimes

I haven’t had much time to update my blog recently as I’ve been on the move. But this is something that I wanted to share for the longest time…

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of interviewing yoga guru, author, and speaker Mark Whitwell at the recent Asia Yoga Conference in Hong Kong. It was my first assignment for Yogi Times, and I learned so much during the process of researching and writing this piece.

While I haven’t focused on writing for media as much as I used to (I’ve become more involved in my own business and catering to clients the past couple of months), I do love the fact that I can easily jump back into the craft when I am inspired.

I also feel like every time I am assigned to write something, it’s pretty relevant to what I’m supposed to learn in that phase of my life. This article pushed me to learn more about yoga, working from the heart, and connecting with myself and others. It gets pretty deep, but I hope you guys like it xxx

Work: Calyxta Cover Shoot

Calyxta

Hello self-promotion! I normally feel shy and self-conscious when I talk about my work, but this time I don’t really feel that awkward. Maybe because this shoot isn’t about “me!” but more about my relationship with my older sister Teresa.

Manila-based beauty website Calyxta recently featured me and Teresa as their June cover girls. (Thanks Guys!) I don’t always get to shoot with Ter, especially now that we live in different cities. We are also on different paths, with me on my own solo journey, and Teresa, on becoming a mom.

What I loved about this shoot was that it explored our relationship as sisters in the industry, and revealed new layers about how it was for us growing up.

Reflect x Work: Self-Love

Here’s a post that has to do with some work I did + a ton of reflection-a throwback to the article I wrote for Rappler over 2 years ago on the importance of self-love.

This morning, I was reflecting on that concept because my room mate and I decided to create a “100 days of Self Love” challenge. Basically, we do something everyday that is an act of self-love; whether it’s consciously eating well or doing that one hour of yoga.

The idea stemmed from seeing these “100 happy days” posts on Instagram, and I wanted to put my own spin to it. (However, I’m not posting this challenge online because it’s just a nice, private, roomie ritual that we do and discuss at home.)

I remembered this article I wrote back when I was still living in Singapore. Those days, I was learning A LOT of life lessons about myself and about growing up. But it seems like this concept of self-love is something I will never stop learning about.
