Covet: DAMDAM Tokyo Skincare

Damdam Tokyo sent me a care package last year when I was living in Boracay. Thank you Giselle and Philippe!

You know I always love and support what my friends create. They work very hard + are very humble + are very mindful and intentional about the things they want to put out into the world. #cleanskincare

Here is a reel I made for their brand right before I ran back to the beach. 🙂 (You can still see my tan ;))

Photos: Tokyo | Til Next Time

Speaking of my recent Japan trip…

Time passed too fast but at the same time, too slow. Where 15 hours could feel like only 5 minutes had gone by, and 5 minutes could feel like it’s been 15 hours…

I find it effortless and non-intimidating for me to jump in and out of this realm. I needed a break from Hong Kong, and the many multiple worlds that exist within this world prove that there is always something new to discover…uncover…recover…

Til next time.

Explore: Yoyogi Park

Despite all the times I’ve been to Japan, I’ve actually never been to Yoyogi Park until this trip. I have this one side of me that’s completely all about the city, and then there’s this other side that’s likes to meditate in nature and zone out.

So this is a little post dedicated to that nature freak in me. The side that likes to take photos of trees, moss, and chill with ravens.

Photos: Osaka and Kyoto and Nara, Oh My

osakavictoria

Last month, I took a trip to Osaka to attend a business convention with my mom. I love traveling with her on trips like these because I learn a lot. She knows that at this point in my life, my shift towards business is becoming more and more evident. I figured if I wanted to be a great entrepreneur, why not learn from a woman who I’ve witnessed work hard and become a respected boss in her own right?

The plus side is of course being able to spend time with her. Ever since I moved abroad around 3.5 years ago, I don’t get to see her everyday. I treasure trips like this that let us chill out whether in our hotel room or exploring the neighborhood.

While in Osaka, we were able to take a few side trips to Kyoto and Nara (might as well since we are in the neighborhood right?). Photos of the trip after the jump…

Explore: Super A Market

Super A Market was one of my favorite spots in Tokyo. Located in Aoyama, this multi- brand store houses a mix of luxury items in a fun, easy, and light space that resembles the feel of shopping in a supermarket. I was too caught up in looking at the racks to take proper photos, but here are the ones I managed to sneak in.

A few weeks ago I was in Tokio with one of my closest girl friends from Singapore. We decided to spend the Chinese New Year break over there to get some much needed rest, relaxation, and research.

Since we are both interested in the fields of fashion, art, and design, we knew that Tokyo would be a perfect spot to find new ideas. I really take inspiration from all the details from the different spaces; you can really feel how complete the vibe is by just looking at the pictures.

Here are some photos from the trip after the jump.

Meet: Sheena Vera Cruz, Professional Dancer, Choreographer & Artist Development Coach

SheenaSheena Vera Cruz lives through movement. Whether it’s jet-setting from one country to the next, or expressing herself through dance, this free-spirited gypsy never stays still. Sheena has been a professional dancer, host, choreographer and artist for years, and now brings this experience to the next chapter of her career as a mentor & coach.

This year, she was one of the international judges for reality dance show Astro Battleground, which had her shuffling between shooting in Malaysia and pioneering her Sexy Heels Fitness Workshop in the Philippines. As this interview is about to be posted, Sheena is getting ready to fly once more for more teaching and training in NYC and Japan.

I admire Sheena’s determination to keep improving herself, and her desire to turn her art into a service. Get to know a very bubbly, energetic, and intelligent woman who moves to the rhythm of her own beat. Meet Sheena.

Portfolio: Karina Illovska | Photographer

12 28Karina Illovska is a talented and humble photographer I met in Sydney, who captures the most beautiful images from her travels. While she also takes portraits, home and wedding photos, it is these photos that I feel really capture the “beauty of observing.”

Check out more photos from her portfolio (a mix of photos from her trips to Ghana, India, and Japan) after the jump…Continue reading “Portfolio: Karina Illovska | Photographer”

Explore: Daikanyama Tsutaya Books

IMG_4786

While in Tokyo, I was able to finally see T-Site, the spin-off bookstore by Tsutaya located in my favorite neighborhood, Daikanyama. This impressive bookstore was designed by architecture firm Klein Dytham, western architects who are based in Japan and who also designed the Google Japan office.

What T-site did right was that they went beyond being a conventional bookstore, and instead curated a lifestyle of learning and exploration.

On our flight back to Singapore from Hawaii, we had a stopover in Japan for 10 hours. (But really, only around 5 hours to roam around after sorting out our flights, switching airports, and taking the train back and forth to the city.) So lovely to be able to visit Tokyo again even for a short bit.

Here’s our short but sweet Photo Diary after the Jump…
